The Belgian Hydrogen Council Conference, organised by WaterstofNet and Cluster Tweed, was a great success! Bringing together Belgian and international participants we discussed the European hydrogen value chain, where Belgium plays a crucial role. With more than 300 participants, this conference clearly has become the meeting point for the Belgian hydrogen ecosystem and an gateway for internal collaboration.
The conference program reflected the strengths of Belgium and its drive to become an important European hydrogen hub:
- Domestic hydrogen production projects are being developed, with recent first investment decisions. Additionally, several Belgian companies are using their expertise for developing large scale hydrogen import value chains internationally.
- The existing hydrogen and ammonia ecosystem, concentrated in the ports, is expanded with new hydrogen pipelines and new import and storage infrastructure.
- A number of worldwide leading hydrogen technology manufacturers are investing in new manufacturing capacity in Belgium and academic hydrogen expertise is further developed.
Tom Hautekiet, president of the Belgian Hydrogen Council: ‘As I almost wrap up my second year as BHC President, I’m proud of the progress we’ve made. We’re excited to take the next steps in our journey as the conference showed once again how all Belgian stakeholders involved, as a true ‘Team Belgium’, unite and shine globally through innovation and collaboration. A big thank you to all the speakers, partners, and participants for driving us towards a greener future. Let’s keep this momentum going!”
